Obituary For Shirley Ann Dubose Morris

Memorial Service for Shirley Ann Dubose-Morris will be held Saturday, March 13, 2021 at 12:00 Noon at Cedric D. Clark Memorial Funeral Home. Mrs. Morris, 68 of Akron, Ohio passed away on Tuesday, March 02, 2021 at Akron General Hospital.

Shirley Ann Dubose-Morris was born on April 30, 1952 in Meridian, Mississippi to the parentage of Roger Dubose, Sr., and Violet Hatch Dubose, both preceded her in death. She was the first of eight children born to this union. At an early age, she joined the Okatibbee Missionary Baptist Church in Meridian, Mississippi.

Shirley Ann was educated in the Meridian Public School System.

Throughout the past 30 years, Shirley would relocate back and forth between Mississippi and Ohio, making Ohio her home once again in March 2020. She united with Livingstone Apostolic Church where she served faithfully until her health declined.

Shirley was notably known for her delicious food. She was an exceptional cook and she used those skills cooking for many throughout Akron and Meridian. While in Mississippi, she worked as a home sitter where she shared her many recipes with her patients. On March 2, 2021 at Akron General Hospital, surrounded by God’s grace and his merciful angels, the trumpets sounded. Shirley Ann heard and answered the call.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her grandparents, Ernest Dubose, Sr., and Annie Dubose; stepmother: Ann Jeanette Dubose; brothers: Ernest Dubose, Billy Dubose, Samuel Freeman, Michael Dubose, Dennis Ray Dubose and Roger Dubose, Jr.; stepbrother: Willie Lewis, Jr.; stepsisters: Annie Pearl Evans and Sara McGlothin; aunts: Ernestine Kelly, Climmie T. Brown and Christine Brown; uncles: Otis Dubose and Luther Dubose.

She will truly be missed by all who knew and loved her. She leaves fond memories to be cherished by her three children: Samantha Burrage, James Johnson, and George Burrage; four sisters: Peggy Jean Wise (Thomas), Dorothy Dubose, Rosemary Johnson, and Pamela Yarbrough (Rodney); 18 grandchildren: Chrishawna Brown, Adiea Burrell, Ashley Gammage, Tyi Burrage, Syi Burrage, Jazman Townsend, George Townsend, Jeremiah Townsend, Kadarius Harris, Kira Truitt, Khristian Seymour, Jalea Jones-McQueen, Lee Jones, Audrieona Loftin, James Johnson, Jr., Desirae Milsap, Alizhe’ Jones, Kendra Blackburn; 15 great grandchildren, along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, church family, and other sorrowing friends.

To the Dubose Family may god strength you in your time of healing, I know Shirly Ann from the Bally road, I lived on across we , I knew her years we we was so young back then, we would be out parting all night and the only house we we could go to sleep at was at Popo house,there are so mint memories I have of Shirly Ann back then I haven't seen her for years but she was always in my heart, and I will miss her until we meet again in heaven, Mrs. Mary Louise Kelly (Tubbs) (AKA) Turkey
