Mr. John Nelson “Mookie” Woods was born November 11, 1965 to the late Mr. Willie Oscar Woods Sr. and the late Mrs. Alice Wilburn Woods in Springville, AL.

He departed this life on March 12, 2021 at Baptist Medical Center South in Montgomery, AL.

He graduated in the 1984 Class of Ashville High School. He excelled in football, track, and basketball. He was All County, All State and held several records in sports.

He was an active member of the Policy Council of Lowndes County Head Start in Ft. Deposit. He was a member of Apostolic Refuge Church of Montgomery, AL under the leadership of Elder Julius V. Cook Jr.

He was also a construction worker, Concrete finisher, yard worker and did so many other odd jobs.

He was preceded in death by his parents, son, Justin Xavier Woods; Brothers, Willie Oscar Woods Jr., Charles Edward Woods Sr. and James Dick Woods.

He is survived by his wife, Robin Woods, Ft. Deposit, AL; Daughter, Sakayla Woods Davis, Pell City, AL; Stepdaughters, Kristen Taylor, Amanda Taylor, both of Brewton, AL; Stepson, Christopher Taylor of Brewton, AL; Mother & Father in-law, Paula (Jimmy) Terrell, Brewton, AL; Special granddaughter, Blakeleigh (Catfish) Taylor, Ft. Deposit, AL; Special grandson, Jeremiah Jennings of Brewton, AL; Sisters, Pearlie Woods, Doris Woods Lollar, Minnie Woods Baker, LaDesta Woods Mostella, all of Ashville, AL; Brothers, Clarence (Brenda) Woods, Fredrick Woods, both of Ashville, AL, Kenneth (Kimberly) Woods of Gadsden, AL; Aunt, Mrs. Ella Bradford of Conyers, GA; Brother-in-laws, Jeffrey Dailey, Santa Rosa, FL, Jim Terrell, Houston, TX; Sister-in-laws, Renee Steele, Brewton, AL, Stacy Hood, Houston, TX; Special nephew, Charles (Jessica) Woods Jr., Odenville, AL; Special friends, Gary Woods, Joe Looney, Marvin Bothwell, Kimberlyn Riggins, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.

Services will be Sunday, March 21, 2021 at the Greater Grace Church at 1:00 pm. Public viewing will be Saturday,3pm-6pm. Eulogist: Pastor Julius V. Cook Jr. Internment: Whitney Cemetery Arrangements under the direction of West Gadsden Funeral Home
