Obituary For Evelyn Polk

The funeral services for the late Mrs. Evelyn Polk of 303 Shipp Lane, Lot D, Sylvester, Georgia, who departed this life on Friday, March 12, 2021 at Tift Regional Medical Center in Tifton, Georgia, will be held on Saturday, March 20, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. from the Brown Chapel C.M.E. Church in Sylvester, Georgia. Words of Comfort will be given by Pastor Connie Scott. Burial will follow in the Shepard Memorial Garden Cemetery in Sylvester, Georgia.

Mrs. Evelyn Polk was born January 2, 1961 in Sylvester, Georgia to the late Mr. and Mrs. Willie J. and Martha Timmons Jackson.

Evelyn was educated in the Worth County Public School System, and graduated from Worth County High School in 1979.

Evelyn gave her life to Christ and joined the Brown Chapel C.M.E. Church of Sylvester, Georgia. She served as a member of the Stewardess Board and the Missionary Society.

Evelyn was a member of the Wal-Mart Store Family in Sylvester, Georgia.

Evelyn was united in Holy Matrimony to Mr. James Polk on October 15, 1983.

Our Loved One gave up this busy walk of life on Friday, March 12, 2021 at Tift Regional Medical Center in Tifton, Georgia. Her parents and a brother, Charlie Will Jackson, have all preceded her in death.

She leaves to cherish her memories her husband of thirty-seven years, James Polk; her daughter, Shalonda Polk; stepdaughter, Aija Boatwright; two grandchildren, Ja’kerria Walker and J’son Walker; three sisters, Lora Lewis, Gloria Youmes, Debra Jackson; a brother, Alfonza Jackson; a sister-in-law, Vivian Jackson; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Evelyn and I became good friends when Worth County Schools integrated... our first class together was PE... We remained friends after school and ALWAYS stood and talked when I would come to Walmart! The world lost a wonderful person when Evelyn passed away. I will miss my friend and her smiling face! Rest easy my friend... thank you for being you! Shalonda, I love you girl...
