Graveside service will be held 10:00 a.m. EST, Friday, March 19, 2021 at Sunset Memorial Gardens with Pastor Hovet Dixon, officiating. Visitation is Thursday, March 18, 2021 from 1-5 p.m. EST.
Dea. Benjamin “Ben” Hicks was born January 7, 1958 in Barbour County, Eufaula to the late Charlie Lee Perry and Willie H. Maddox.
He attended Phenix City School system and was a 1976 graduate of Central High School. He later attended Chattahoochee Valley Community College to continue his academic and basketball career. He was famously known as #20 “Greyhound.”
Dea. Benjamin “Ben” Hicks confessed Christ at an early age. He later made a commitment to the Mt Hebron Baptist Church, Seale AL and served faithfully as a deacon until the Lord called him home.
He was united in holy matrimony to Jacqueline L. Hicks on January 3, 1989. Dea. Benjamin “Ben” Hicks was employed by Swift Spinning Mill, Columbus GA for 15 years until his disability. He was preceded in death by his father and brother, Alexander “Big Al” Jacobs.
The memories of this loving spirit will be cherished by his wife, Jacqueline Hicks of 32 years; a loving mother, Willie H. Maddox; seven children, LaShaughnessy (David) Ross, Benjamin Montrey Hicks, Anthony Taylor, Terrance “Cobey” Bulluck, Brittney Hicks, Alex Hicks, Nicarlos Hicks; three brothers, Jody (Stacy) Jacobs, Jeffery (Keisha) Jacobs, and Kerry Maddox; one brother-in-law, Jimmy Lewis; six sisters-in-law, Annie Hoskins, Lessie (Robert) Butts, Charlie (Toney) Woods, Josephine Woods, Diane Hood, Katie (Alfonso) Griffen; 18 grandchildren; a devoted friend, Jonathan Griffin; and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
