Obituary For Pauline Upshaw

Pauline A. Upshaw August 8, 1931 - February 25, 2021

Columbus, Georgia - Sister Pauline Upshaw was born August 8, 1931, in Whitesville, GA, to the late R.D. Anderson and Ossie Lee Snow Anderson. She departed this life on Thursday, February 25, 2021. Graveside services will be held 12:00PM Saturday, March 6, 2021 at Green Acres Cemetery, Reverend James Gant, officiating according to Hill-Watson-People's Funeral Service LLC, 1605 3rd Ave, 706-327-9293. Visitation with social distancing will be at the service on Saturday. After coming to Columbus, Ms Pauline joined Providence Baptist Church, around 1970, she along with several other members started Beallwood Heights Baptist Church, which is now Corinth Missionary Baptist Church. She served as President of the Usher Board, President of the Deaconess, President of the Mission Board, served on the Hospitality Committee, and was a counselor of the Young Matrons. She was dedicated and faithful in the church. She attended faithfully until her health declined. Ms Pauline worked for several families in the Columbus area as a housekeeper. Her last family was the Woodruff family. She retired after 32 years of dedicated service. After retiring, she dedicated her time to the church, husband, children, and grandchildren. She was joined in matrimony to her late husband, Clyde Upshaw, on November 29, 1951. Together, they raised a blended family of five: two stepsons, Frank and Michael, three daughters, Ola Mae, Shirley Faye, and Josephine (Dot). She was preceded in death by two sons, Frank Upshaw and Michael Upshaw; three daughters, Ola Colbert, Shirley Upshaw, and Josephine Upshaw; six grandchildren, Carlotta Faison-Smith, Cheri Faison, Cedric Faison, Warlita Wilson-Maddox, Warren Wilson, and Brandon Upshaw; and one great-great-grandchild, Jendaya Kegler. She leaves to cherish her memory a sister, Lurline Maxwell of Birmingham, AL; a daughter-in-law, Ella Upshaw of Columbus, GA; a brother-in-law, Joe Upshaw of Fayetteville, GA; and sister-in-law, Bessie Upshaw of Columbus, GA; nine grandchildren, Kenneth Faison, Cabritta Thomas, Matasha Wilson, Natasha Upshaw, Shaune Kegler, Kesi Kegler, Jovia Kegler, Ken Upshaw and Frank Upshaw; 24 great-grandchildren, 27 great-great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and dear friends.
