Rev. Harold F. Trice, Sr., 75 formerly of Fuquay-Varina, NC passed on March 14, 2021 at the home. Rev. Harold F. Trice, Sr., leaves to cherish his memory: his wife, Artelia E. Trice; two children, Harold L. Trice, Jr., and Krystal Trice; seven grandchildren, Amyah B. Trice, Brook C. Trice, Cameron J. Trice, E’Nya Evans, Zy’Quon Adams, Asia Neal, and Marissa Adams; one brother, Carl A. Trice; four stepsons, Erric Evans, Lee A. Adams III, James Brooks, and Antonio Brooks (Vanessa); four sisters-in-law, Katrina Williams (Dennis), Deborah Evans, Frances Evans, and Brenda Edwards; seven brothers-inlaw, Taylor Evans (Cassandra), Jarvis Evans (Chong), Delawrence Evans (Ondra), Calvin Evans, Michael Evans (Pattie), James Evans, and Danny Druitt; godmother, Edna Frazier; armour bearer, Jeanette Carter; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Viewing 12:00 - 6:00 pm Friday, March 19, 2021 at Trice Funeral Home Chapel, 127 N. West Street in Fuquay-Varina, NC 27526, with no more than 10 individuals at any one time.
Visitation: 2:00 - 5:00 pm Saturday, March 20, 2021 at Union Chapel Missionary Baptist Church, 901 E. F Street in Butner, NC 27509.
Funeral will be held 2:00 pm Sunday, March 21, 2021 at St. Augusta Missionary Baptist Church, 605 Bridge Street in Fuquay-Varina, NC 27526.
Burial: Starlight Memorial Gardens, Lois Lane in Holly Springs, NC 27540.
As much as we would love for everyone to be able to attend the funeral, we have to keep in mind the pandemic so it will be LIMITED seating at the service. We would like to THANK everyone in advance and may God bless each and everyone of you.

To Rev Harold Trice family. We are sorry to hear of your loss. Our family had a very close relationship with Rev. Trice for over 33 years. During this time he was there with support and prayers for us during sickness, for funerals, for advice and even came to Washington DC to officiate my son's wedding. We felt he was one of our family members as he shared in many of our family events over the years. My mother attended Union Chapel Missionary Baptist Church in Butner until she died and whenever we came down to visit our Durham, Butner, and Winston-salem family, we would always attend his services to enjoy his sermons and singing. He never failed to acknowledge us as his family as we tried to blend into the audience without him seeing us. Rev. Trice was a good man and will surely be missed. It is with great sadness that we acknowledge the transitioning of Rev Harold Trice. Better known as Harold to our family! The Burtons and Trices grew up together, more like cousins than friends. My grandfather, Ira Burton and Rev Norman Trice were two of several elders in the community with children around the same ages. Harold and my cousin Frank were best of friends . I have so many chuckles when I think of their young adult pranks, like rolling Aunt Ezola's car out of the yard and going to S.C. to see Frank's sister Kat! I was recently sharing with my girlfriends after the passing of Carolyn Trice Walker how Harold married my now husband Syl and I in 1982. Syl refused to practice the song we were to sing as part of our wedding ceremony. At rehearsal when he decided to sing he was in an entirely different tune from me.Harold talked about him bad. The next day at the wedding after a night of celebration he was even worse. We laugh today about how Harold, Syl and I sang at our wedding . He drowned out Syl with his strong melodic voice! Harold and my Mom, Mabel Burton always shared a private joke together that made both of them fall out laughing without ever saying a word. Love you dear friend. RIP We will miss you! Carl,Tiffany and the entire Trice Family,as you walk through this time of loss,may you know that the Lord walks with you and He will comfort you. There is not enough words in the Dictionary to "fully" describe our Harold. I will always remember his loud voice,sweet personality,and great gift to love and entertain anybody. As a classmate (1960-64) Harold always made the class laugh,especially in our Biology class. Everytime our Teacher, Mr. Todd left the room Harold would come in front of the class and practice " Preaching" like his Father, Rev.Trice. When Mr. Todd returned the class would be roaring. We never told Mr.Todd what Harold was doing. Mr. Todd would just say "Trice just go sit down'. May be the Lord was preparing Harold back then for his Trial Sermon and future Sermons. Just cherish his memories and live on. One could not help from laughing at and with Harold. Harold Frances Trice was just Harold. I will never know why he always called me 'JAP' instead of my name. The only time I ever saw him speechless was the time Bennie Moore gathered several classmates and friends and went to his Pastor's Anniversary in Butner, N.C. as a surprise. Boy,did he preach after we marched in and sat.

To Lady Artelia Trice, Trice Family, and the Union Chapel Missionary Baptist Church: Rev. Harold F. Trice, Sr. was/is a vital part of my life. Through the many transitions of my life with deaths of loved ones, ministry, marriage, and now pastoring, Rev. Trice shared a major role. I served as his Minister of Music for over 10 years before leaving to pastor. He was so much more than that. He was a friend, mentor, and father-figure. I am so hurt and devastated at his passing. It is such a shock! Expressing words on this site would never express the generosity of this great man. My ministry began under Rev. Trice at Union. I thought he was off-the-chain and crazy when we first met! I said, "Who does this man thinks he's talking to?" Only to come to know him for who he truly was. He was very comical, fun, energetic, and most definitely down to earth. This man was kin to everybody!!! lol He could also quote those scriptures like nobody's business. Gosh I am going to miss him! I love you family. And will always love you Rev. Harold F. Trice, Sr.! As you would say to me, "My son in the ministry" (in your Barry White voice). Carl & the entire Trice Family, Our heartfelt sympathy in the passing of Rev. Trice. What a distinguished gentleman, always so kind, such a heartwarming smile, always making us feel so special, and we loved to hear preach whenever and wherever we could. We would see him and always begin with "There are so many times that I didn't have a dime" and we both would just start grinning because of the many times we got to hear him sing that song. We are still in shock, in prayer, but so thankful for first meeting him in 1971 & the friendship continued. We loved to hear the many wonderful stories about the Trices from our Aunt Georgia Betts, who affectionately admired each of you and deemed you as our extended "Family". To each of you, Take comfort in God's love during these difficult days 🙏 Continue to hold onto his unchanging hand. Please know that the Taylor & Betts families will especially be remembering each of you in our thoughts and prayers during your time of bereavement.
