In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Mildred Carter; two brothers, John E. Carter, Jr., and James M. Carter; and four sisters, Rubena S. Rossley, Betty C. Mitchell, Juanita Whyte, and Ivy C. Brown.
Harold was a member of Martinsville Seventh Day Adventist Church as an Elder. He was retired from Tultex as a truck driver.
Harold leaves to cherish his memory, four daughters, Janet Bradford (Dwight) of Mitchellville, MD, Sandra Best (Alex) of Bowie, MD, Vickie Vicks of Columbia, MD and Sabrina Carter of Mitchellville, MD; two brothers, Thomas Alfred Carter (Mamie) and J. Leon Carter, both of Martinsville, VA; six grandchildren, Raymond, Ashley, James, Brandi, Dwight (Brad), and Brandon; seven great grandchildren, James, Elijahn (Johnny), Craig (CJ), Mackenzie, Christian, Harper, and Dwight III; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
A graveside service will be held on Sunday, March 21, 2021 at 1:00 p.m. at the Carter Family Cemetery (Meadow Garden Lane, Martinsville, VA). A public viewing will be held Saturday, March 20, 2021 at Hairston Funeral Home between the hours of 1 P.M. to 5 P.M. In accordance with the CDC, a face covering, and social distancing is required.
