Obituary For Jo Ann Walker

Mrs. Jo Ann Walker was born on September 23, 1954 in Ashburn, GA to the late Mr. Melvin Walker and Leila B. Hoyt-Walker and early on March 9, 2021, JoAnn Walker earned her wings at her residence in Warner Robins, GA. She graduated from Turner County High School in 1973. Then she received a B.S. in Social Science from Albany State University in 1977 and later a Masters’ in Education from Brenau University. She retired from Georgia State Patrol in Conyers, GA in September 2014. She was a phenomenal seamstress and soul-shaking prayer warrior. In retirement she became a travel agent and entrepreneur. JoAnn Walker was proceeded in death by her parents and siblings Melvin Walker, Jr. and Tommy Lee (Rosemary) Walker. She leaves behind her loving and devoted son David Rafael Clark (Inez); cherished grandchildren, Jaizon Vega, Kharlia Vega, Janae Clark, Jakhari Clark and Jakhai Clark; beloved god-children Shanika Lykes, Tony Mack, Kim Morrow and Shakerah Hall; siblings, Juanita (Major) Sanders, Charles (Virginia) Walker, and Nicky (Dorothy) Walker; aunts, Jerry Hoyt, Mary Ann Walker, Dorothy Ann (Charles) Hoyt-Perkins and Geraldine Hoyt; uncle, David Hoyt and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, devoted classmates and friends.

I was deeply saddened to learn of the passing of JoAnn, we were friends and retirees of the State of Georgia. It is difficult to turn the page when you know that someone is not going to be in the next chapter, but all the cherished memories have a way to make it a little easier.
