Over the years, Hazel has held various financial positions initially as a manager at the Currency Exchange and as an accounting clerk at Glidden Durkee. Hazel ultimately was hired by Dow Chemical as a payroll and accounting clerk and over the course of her thirty plus year career she worked her way up to become the Director of Accounting for North America, which also included Canada. She initially started working with Dow Chemical at the Joliet Polystyrene Plant and later relocated to the corporate headquarters in Midland, MI where she retired years later.
In accordance with her family’s entrepreneurial spirit, Hazel was the co-owner and manager of Jones Janitorial Service and Hazel Jones Bookkeeping, where she advised and assisted small business owners and individuals.
Hazel was involved in the community as a Board Member with Adoption Option, a non-profit corporation in Midland, MI. She was passionate about helping children in foster care get adopted.Hazel also served as a Board Member with various for-profit corporations where she advised on financial matters.
Preceded in death by her father: Linley Dougherty, Sr. and mother: Mae (Seabron) Dougherty; paternal grandparents: Timothy Dougherty, Hazel Daniels Dougherty, John Ingram; maternal grandparents: Sylvester and Ida (Boyce) Seabron, Sr.; sister: Marilyn Johnson; daughter: Veronica Jones-Taylor and several uncles, aunts, cousins, nephews and nieces.
She leaves to mourn her beloved daughter: Karla Jones-Wilson (Bradley) of Bradenton, FL; grandsons: Brandon and Kristopher Wilson of Bradenton, FL; grandson: Ryan Taylor of West Bloomfield Township, MI; son-in-law: Robert Taylor (Christy) of West Bloomfield Township, MI; brother: Linley Dougherty, Jr. (Starla) of Chino Hills, CA; sisters: Lynda McCormick of Phillips Ranch, CA; Ida Mose’ of Joliet, IL; Roslyn Brady (Frank) of Menifee, CA; Suzzonne Wilkerson (Stan) of Crete, IL; Tonya Dougherty-French of Joliet, IL; and a host of brothers-in-law, aunts, uncles, cousins, nephews, nieces, extended family and friends.
