Obituary For Roger Lee Lamar

Roger Lee Lamar, 68, transitioned to eternal rest Friday, March 19, 2021 at home surrounded by his family. Roger Lee Lamar was born in Eatonton, Georgia on January 7, 1953 to the late Mr. and Mrs. Peter Mae and Charlie James Lamar, Sr. Roger is preceded in death by his Parents. At an early age he received Christ as his Lord and savior. Roger was a member of Jefferson Baptist Church, where he sung in the male choir. Roger married the love of his life Belinda B. Lamar on October 18, 1980. Two children were born to this union, Jonathan Curtis Lamar and Kendra Skylar Lamar. He was a devoted family man and friend all those who came in contact with him. Roger received his formal education the Putnam County public school system. He graduated from Putnam County High School in the class of 1971. After graduation Roger continued his education at Atlanta Junior College where he received a degree in Auto Mechanic. Roger compiled an outstanding career in farming and drove tractors /trailers for Thurston Motor Lines for 10 years. Later in 1975 Roger started his Business “Roger Lamar Dairy” where he was a dairy farmer and milked cows, cut hay and much more for 40 years. Roger’s family was featured in the book “Black Farmers in America” in 2006. In 2015 Roger Lamar Dairy was named Putnam County Dairy Farm Family of the year. That same year John Deere produced a 14-minute film featuring the farm family, where Roger won a free trip to Illinois with his family. Roger loved servicing his community and was a part of several organizations. He was the co-founder of the Black Farmers Agriculturist Association, a member of Jefferson Sun Masonic Lodge 242 and served as secretary for many years until his health declined. Roger also served on the Agriculture and Soil Conservation Board in Putnam County, Treasury of the Unity Foundation, and volunteered with the “Life Source Food Bank and as a volunteer-Fireman at Sugar Creek Fire Department until his illness. He leaves to cherish the memories of 40 years to his devoted, faithful and loving wife Belinda Scott, a loyal daughter; Kendra Skylar Lamar, one wonderful son; Jonathan Curtis Lamar, one brother; Charlie James (Doris) Lamar, Jr.; two sisters-in-law; Linda (Willie) Adam, Veronica (Philip) Crawford, brothers-in-law; Hulon (Annie) Burke, Milton (Dorothy) Burke, Thomas “Snap” (Callie), Eunice (Willie), devoted friends; Ralph Walton, Cliff Peters, Reginald Wynn, Ester Melvin Bishop, Tony Macklin, Viola, Shannon, Chastain and Bart Hibbard, Richard Lankford, Anita Davis, Special nephews; Rick Godfrey, Nikita Godfrey, Marcus Lamar, and a host of Aunts, Uncles, godchildren, nieces, nephews, friends and family members. Public Visitation will be held Monday, March 22, 2021 from 4:00-6:00 P.M. at Bernard's The Eatonton Chapel.

Graveside services will be held 1:30 P.M. Tuesday, March 23, 2021, at Jefferson Baptist Church Cemetery, 495 Harmony Rd, Eatonton, GA 31024.
