Obituary For Charles E. Hairston

Charles E. Hairston, 78, of Walnut Cove died March 20, 2021. Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Friday, March 26, 2021 at Pine Hall Baptist Church, Pine Hall, NC. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Public viewing will be from 1:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Thursday at Perry Spencer Funeral Home, Madison, NC.

Wear your mask, social distancing and follow all CDC guidelines will be enforced.

Charles as born on October 28, 1942 to the late Nick Hairston and Mary Elizabeth Mitchell Hairston in Iredell County, NC. He departed this life on March 20, 2021. Charles attended Stokes County Public Schools and he also took a course in brick masonry at A & T University, Greensboro, NC. He was a former employee of Southern Brick Masonry. Charles loved baseball, the L A Dodgers was his team. He enjoyed watching T V, especially the Western Chanel, as long as there were cowboys and horses. He was a good fisher and loved fishing but everyone that knew Charles knew that he would talk much junk (with a smile). He was united in marriage to Mattie Frances Brown on October 13, 1981. He was preceded in death by his sister, Martha Harris and his grandmother, Anne Leak. Charles loved her very much, he calls her “Mama”.

Charles leaves to cherish his memories: his wife of 39 years; Mattie B. Hairston, three children; Birdie Tate (Jonathan), Charles Brown, Al Brown (Latoyia) all of Walnut Cove, NC nine grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, brother; John Wayne Hairston of Winston Salem, NC, three sisters-in-law, several nieces, nephews, a host of friends and acquaintances.
