Obituary For James Walton Canup

James Walton Canup, age 92, of Lexington Georgia, went home to be with the Lord on March 23, 2021. James was born in Alto, Georgia, but lived most of his life in Lexington, Georgia.

He was a retiree of Chicopee Mills after a career of over 30 years.

He was the beloved husband of Kathleen Campbell Canup for 70 years, and the loving father of Katie Canup Glowka and Doug Canup (Paula) of Hayesville, NC.

He is also survived by his siblings: Lillie Canup Piland of Union Point, GA and Joann Canup Mixon (Dwight) of Crawford, GA and grandchildren: Sean Canup, Adrienne Fletcher, Jonathan Fletcher, and great grandchildren: Hayden Canup, KalliAnn Fletcher, Koleman Fletcher, Carrie Walker, and Evan Etheredge. He was preceded in death by grandson, Justin Etheredge.

A graveside service will be held at the Pentecost Chapel in Lexington, Georgia at 11:00 AM on Friday, March 26, 2021. Visitation will be held on Thursday, March 25, 2021 from 4:00 PM - 6:00 PM at Barrett Funeral Home Oglethorpe Chapel in Crawford, Georgia.

Due to COVID-19, masks (face coverings) will be required at visitation. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of James can be made to the Gideons International organization.

Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Barrett Funeral Home Oglethorpe Chapel.
