I loved Bennie literally since I can remember. He was a part of our family. A big, strong, caring, thoughtful, loving, Christian man who helped my siblings and me grow into the people we are today. He used to hold his hand against mine to show how big his hand was compared to mine -- it may sound silly, but I always thought his hand was so big because that's how much God was in him. He couldn't be little if he was so full of God. Bennie taught this white woman a lot about what it was like to be black in this community, and there isn't a day when I don't remember it and try to make a difference today. His heart, his music, his love for his amazing wife Faye .... these are things that will live forever. In this life, our greatest hope is that we make a difference. Bennie made this world a better place, for so many. I consider myself honored to have had the chance to know and love him. -- Annette Watts
