Deacon Frank Benson Sr. was born in Wilkes County, Georgia to the late Leila Benson on June 25, 1924. On June 2, 1951 he was joined in holy matrimony to the late Hazel R. Banks-Benson who preceded him in death after 63 years of marriage, and to this union four children were born, Frank Jr. who preceded him also, Douglas, Joan, and Debra.

Deacon Frank Benson Sr. joined the Mt. Calvary Baptist Church and was baptized by the late Rev. L.H. Stinson on September 14, 1969. He served as Chairman and Vice Chairman of the Deacon Board under the leadership of Pastor Grady Lawrence and Pastor Lance Pitts for many years. He was a dedicated member who loved his church and did whatever he could to support his church. He was a devoted husband and father who worked faithfully two jobs most of his life and loved working and providing for his family. He was preceded in death by (3) brothers, Fred, Melvin, and Bennie Sr., (2) sisters, a twin sister who died at youth, and sister Rosa Nell.

He leaves to cherish his memories devoted children, son, Douglas Benson, Greensboro, Georgia, daughters, Joan Benson-Heath (Lonnie), Union Point, Georgia, and Debra Benson, Greensboro, Georgia. One grandson, Damian Wright, Greensboro, Georgia, who he loved dearly, and great-grandson, Ayden DaCari Wright. (9) Nine nephews, John Benson, and Phillip Newbold, Dallas, Texas, Eugene Newbold, Denver Colorado, Larry Newbold, Miami, Florida, Bennie Favors, Jr. Detroit, Michigan, a special nephew Alfred Benson, who drove up frequently to visit from Valdosta, Georgia, Hubert Thomas, Marlin Thomas and Tyrone Thomas all of Maywood, Illinois. One niece Janice Newbold, Detroit, Michigan and a special great niece Abrea Baugh-Ferris (Shamoi), Lithonia, Georgia along with a host of cousins, great nephews, great nieces, relatives, and friends. God blessed Deacon Benson to live 96 long almost 97 prosperous years.
