Mr. Ezekiel Sneed Jr.

Passed 03/21/2021

Mr. Ezekiel Sneed Jr. was born on June 5, 1941 in Thomaston, Upson County, Georgia to the proud parents of the late Ezekiel Sneed, Sr. and the late Pearlie Jones Sneed. He was their sixth child, and he was fondly called Zeke. He departed this life on Sunday, March 21, 2021. Zeke was educated in Upson County school system where he graduated from Drake High School in 1959. After several years of working various jobs in the trucking and timber business, Zeke moved to Inkster, Michigan where he took employment with the Ford Motor Company and remained there for 30 years. During that time, Zeke and Evelyn Ann Wright were joined in Holy Matrimony in September 1970. To this union, one child, Alvin Hendricks Sneed, was born in 1972. Alvin and Evelyn precede him in death. Zeke was a member of the East Mount Sinai Baptist Church. He delighted in the participation of the church’s Black History program with the artful display of various culture related artifacts. Zeke was also an honorary member of Orange Grove Baptist Church. Zeke had a love for family. He was active and supportive in planning the Sneed Family Reunion. You could rely on Zeke along with his wife Evelyn, to open their home for the Reunion’s meet and greet (the Fish Fry). Also, it was assured that Zeke would garner support for the Sneed Family Reunion. Through conversations and interactions with family members, Zeke made sure they had received and returned their registration, oftentimes concluding his talks with “you coming right?” He was the “PR” person for the committee. After his retirement from Ford Motor Company, Zeke and his wife moved back home to Upson County, Georgia in 1998 where he built their home. In his retirement, Zeke pursued his passion in lawn and yard upkeep as well as maintaining a large garden plot where he grew assorted fruits and vegetables. Out of the kindness of heart, Zeke would give much of his harvest to his many local friends and family members. A hardworking and dedicated-type work ethic, Zeke maintained this passion until his demise. Zeke was preceded in death by his three brothers John Wesley, Clarence, and Arthur C. Sneed. Zeke leaves to cherish his memories: his sister, Rachel Sneed Leroy of Macon, GA; brother, Lynn Sneed of Yatesville, GA; seven nieces, Pearline Reeves of Inkster, MI, Josette and Gerald Leroy of Macon, GA, Tonya Henderson of Yatesville, GA, Fay (Ronnie) Fletcher, Kay Washington and Hester Washington of Barnesville, GA; three nephews, Calvin Sneed (Ozona) of Inkster, MI, Osborn Leroy (Blundle) of Alexandria, VA, and Darrell Sneed of Yatesville, GA; two brothers-in-law, Earl Venus Wright (Jacqueline) of Morrow, GA and Louis Washington of Barnesville, GA; and a host of other relatives and friends.
