After graduating from high school, Janet obtained her Associates degree in Business while working at Bell Labs in Murray Hill, NJ. Janet was a whiz in Drafting which evolved to Computer Aided Design. She was one of the first people to design a circuit, which was as small as a dime for Bell Labs. This was a huge accomplishment for Bell Labs and Janet was proud she created the design. Always a career learner Janet also found she enjoyed non-traditional roles in the working place. It was during this time Janet went to Lincoln Technical School in Union NJ and obtained her certification in Heating Air Conditioning and Refrigeration. Janet moved to Atlanta, Ga in 2005, during that time she worked for Southern Company for a few years and moved into her true love of being an instructor. Janet was the first instructor students saw teaching a course in Basic Electricity. Janet loved performing her duties as an instructor. She often came in early to ensure students that needed help received the much-needed attention. Janet came to Christ later in life and became a Minister. Janet was a strong woman who loved her family. Janet also was an avid motorcycle rider. She always had a witty response for anyone who thought they could out-talk her. Janet has two daughters Jessica Dean-Smith and Brie-Anna Johns. Six grandchildren Ericka, Anthony, Amirah, James and Raven. Brie-Anna has one son Benjamin. Janet also has three great grandchildren Telvis, True and Tel-Ericka. Janet will truly be missed, by her family, friends and co-workers. Even though her light is technically out, she continues to shine. So as the sunsets Jan we know you are looking down at us and playing spades with Mommy, Daddy, and Linda. Until we meet again. We missed you and love you.
