Uncle Pop, It is a sad day to know that such a grand and gentleman is no longer with us. I remember him visiting us when we, my father - James Walston; our mother – Mary Walston; and my brother - Jimmy; and I – Charles lived on 84th in New York. After moving to Jersey City, where we included a sister – Cynthia - Pop continued to stay with us for extended periods. Uncle Pop always brought a relaxing, positive attitude along with his elegant temperament. I still remember how he looked in his Navy uniform. I still remember the love he had for his brothers and the family. I never needed to look beyond the family for heroes or role models, as our family had so many inspiring men and women. All our prayers go to Alonzo Jr., Karol, and Nannette. Know that your father was a great man and loved by many. He has served his family and his nation well. Charles White Richmond, VA
