Obituary For Avery Jerard Hawkes

Avery Jerard Hawkes, 50, of Richmond, died March 29, 2021. Surviving are his daughter, Yantell Bridges; granddaughters, Kenyon and Ayanna; mother, Audrey K. Hawkes; father, John J. Hawkes, Jr. (Delores P.); grandmother, Clara Hawkes; brother, John Jay Hawkes (Chanette); sister, Monica Page; 3 aunts; 2 uncles; 2 nephews; devoted friend, Alecia Wilson; devoted friend and mentor, Craig Cooley; other relatives and friends. Avery received his GED and attended Vocational School. He was certified in Sewing and Upholstery. Mastered the necessary skills in Welding, Maintenance Carpenter and Plumber Helper. Awarded certification by the Virginia Certification Board as a Certificated Peer Recovery Specialist. In this role, he assisted other peers, attended meetings, facilitated meetings and managed a recovery house. Remains rest at Scott's Funeral Home, 115 E. Brookland Park Blvd., where viewing will be held Wednesday, April 7 from 10 a.m. until 7 p.m. A private funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Thursday, April 8 at Scott's Chapel, 116 E.
