Obituary For Bernice Taylor

Bernice Tomlin Taylor, 74, of St. Augustine was born on Sunday, May 26, 1946 to Bertha Lee Tomlin in Stockton, Georgia. Bernice was united in marriage to Willie James Taylor on Saturday, April 23, 1994 in Tacoma, Washington. There union lasted until his demise in 2004. Bernice attended local schools graduating from Richard J. Murray High School. She later furthered her education studying nursing in Tacoma, Washington. Bernice earned her degree in 1994. Her skills were manifested when she became employed as a professional home care worker at Caregivers Advocacy Agency. Because of her loving and dedicated service, she was awarded a certificate of Outstanding Performance in 1992. Her professional skills spilled over in her everyday life of loving and caring for those she encountered. Bernice was preceded in eternal rest by her grandmother, Elizabeth Mitchell Tomlin (who helped raise her), mother, Bertha L. Tomlin, uncles, Gerald Earl Tomlin, Joseph Tomlin, aunts, Arlie Washington, Willie Ruth Charles. She leaves to cherish her many memories: a devoted and loving companion, Robert L. Shirmon, daughters, Mallesia Dill, Robin Sherman, (3) stepdaughters, (1) step-son, sister-in-law, Marvel Davis, (3) granddaughters, aunts, Geraldine Whitfield, Francis Tomlin, devoted cousin, Dorothy Brown, devoted friends, Rosa Stafford, Dorothy Thomas, Kaye Patterson, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. The Taylor family will receive friends and the community from 5-6 p.m., on Friday, April 9, 2021 at E.A. Kelley Sr., Memorial COGIC. A homegoing celebration will be held at 11 a.m., on Saturday, April 10, 2021 at E.A. Kelley Sr., Memorial COGIC, Pastor Donald Kelley, is the eulogist.
