Obituary For Mary V. Hunter

The funeral services for the late Mrs. Mary Hunter of 106 N. Carter Road, Sylvester, Georgia, who departed this life on Sunday, April 4, 2021 at her residence, will be held on Saturday, April 10, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. from the Shepard Memorial Garden Cemetery in Sylvester, Georgia. Words of Comfort and Encouragement will be given by Elder Ulysses Teague. Services may be streamed Facebook Live from the "Shipps Funeral Home" Facebook page.

“For this journey we all must take. And each must go alone. It’s part of the Master’s plan. A step on the road home.” Mrs. Mary V. Hunter, affectionately known as “M.L.” was born on October 28, 1930 to the late Rosie Mae Hamilton Johnson.

Mary was a dedicated member of the New Beginning Church of God by Faith, under the leadership of Elder Ulysses Teague, and was also a member of New Life Community Church under Minister Leon Martin.

Mary was educated in the Worth County Public School System, and graduated from Oak Hill High School in 1948. After graduation from high school, Mary attended Albany State College (University). She worked for Mrs. Sally White for many years.

On April 4, 2021, Mary’s work of spreading unconditional love and joy to al that she encountered came to an end. God’s angels escorted Mary to her Heavenly Home. Her love, grace and precious memories will forever be cherished and missed by her loving family. Mary was preceded in death by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Willie and Rosie Mae Hamilton Johnson, her grandmother, Nettie Hamilton, and cousin, Mamie Thomas.

Mary leaves behind to cherish her memories her children, Marilyn Napier, Larry Johnson, Carolyn Johnson, Marcella Hunter, Rosemary, Hunter, Jeanie Lawsons; her lovely grandchildren, Lacrisha Johnson, Lindsey (Jennifer) Napier, Jr., Kimberly (Leon) Johnson, Lynstancia Napier, Matthew Johnson, Kovoski Brown, Kamoski Johnson; her great grandchildren, Mykavious, Kentari, Zakarie, Bryce, Kimberly, Kandace, Lindsey III, Saniya, Azariah, Kingston, Sha’terica; one great grand, Malaysia; cousins, Alford Hamilton, Lee (Tyree) Evans, Shanita (Ronald) Williams, Edward Hill, Jamal Phillips, Walter Thomas; special cousins whom she loved like sisters, Mary Bailey, Earline Hamilton, Mary Floyd, June Sanford, Ruth James; special friend, Mae Frances Sanders; three special people she held dear in her heart, Jeremy and Joshua White, and their mother, Sally White; and a host of many more sorrowing friends and family.
