A native of Spartanburg SC, and a past resident in Blythewood. He was the son of the late Mrs. Annie Louise Staggs Lewis Means and the late Mr. Isaac Lewis, Jr.
He was a veteran of the US Army, beloved board member of the Spartanburg YMCA. He treasured his dog “Buster”. Dwight was an active member of Ebenezer Baptist Church where he served as a Board Trustee. He was a cycling enthusiast and always determined to overcome any obstacle.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Rufus Devon Lewis III.
Survivors include: two nephews reared in the home, Rufus Devon Lewis IV and William Quincy Lewis of Spartanburg, SC; three brothers, Isaac Lewis III (Kendra), Inman, SC and Alvin Lewis(Cynthia) of Duncan, SC; four sisters, Ester Marie Lewis of Spartanburg, SC; Sherry Lewis and Pamela Lewis of Wellford, SC; Sarah Lewis of Anderson, SC. Other family members close to Dwight include Mrs. Barbara Adamo, Carsenna Nesbitt-Kirkendoll (Kendall).;Uncle Elijah Lewis, Brooklyn New York; Great Aunt, Mrs. Flora Staggs Robinson, Spartanburg, SC; and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.
A Celebration of the Life of Dwight Lewis will be held on Tuesday, April 13, 2021 at 1:00 p.m. at M. J. "Dolly" Cooper Veterans Cemetery, 140 Inway Dr., Anderson, SC.
Mr. Lewis will lie in state on Monday, April 12, 2021 from 4:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. at The John Stinson Woodward Memorial Chapel, 602 Howard St., Spartanburg, SC.
