Ralph C. Franklin, 77, of Highland Ave., Harrisburg transitioned into eternal life on Monday, March 29, 2021. He was born in Harrisburg, son of the late Charles A., Sr. and Willa Mae (Clark) Franklin, graduated from Susquehanna Township High School, proudly served his country in the United States Air Force. Later Ralph realized his dream of serving as a police officer in the Susquehanna Township Police Dept., from where he retired as a Corporal. Ralph was the first African American to be promoted and retire from the Susquehanna Police Dept. In 2020, his contributions in law enforcement were recognized and he was inducted into the Susquehanna Township Police Wall of Honor to serve in perpetuity. In addition to his parents, Ralph was preceded in death by his brothers, Charles "Chubby/Foxx" Franklin, Jr. and William "Bucky" Davis. He leaves to celebrate his life, his devoted wife, Edith; his sons, Michael (Andrea) and Christian "Chris"; his brothers, Stephen Franklin and David Franklin (Jocelyn); his sister, Terri Winfield; his sister-in-law, Sharon Franklin; his granddaughters, Leah Franklin and MiKayla "Chrissy" Franklin; his sons of the heart, Maurice Titus and Randy Cook; his nieces, nephews and a host of other relatives and friends. His life will be celebrated on Wednesday, April 7, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. in the Sanctuary of The Greater Zion Missionary Baptist Church, 212 N. Progress Ave., with viewing 9:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. and burial in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery. Arrangements entrusted to the Ministry of Comfort of Major H. Winfield Funeral Home, Steelton.
