Obituary For Mr. Hugh L. Prentice

Augusta, Georgia-Mr. Hugh Longford McNoughton Prentice went to be with the Lord on April 5, 2021 at Augusta University. Hugh joined the United States Army in 1976 and retired in 1995 after serving 19 ½ years. After retirement from the army Hugh began his second career at International Paper where he retired after serving 15 years. On April 4, 1992 Hugh was united in Holy Matrimony to his loving wife Gracie Harrison Prentice. At an early age he was baptized and later served as a devoted and faithful servant at Second Shiloh Baptist Church. Hugh was a passionate bowler. He was one of the original members of the South Augusta Flames Bowling Club. He was also a member of Team Sport and Friends Bowling Clubs. He leaves to cherish his memories his wife of twenty nine years the love of his life Gracie H. Prentice, four children Kisha Addison, Erik M. Prentice both of Augusta, GA. HuAnna Prentice (Texas) Hugh Prentice, Jr. (Tameka) North Carolina. Four brothers, Vernon Prentice (Digna), Roger Prentice (Kathleen), Fenwick Prentice (Juta) Texas, Vantilor Prentice. Four sisters, Cavelle Belgrave (Clarence), Maura Huges (Michael), Terrilyn Thomas, Junior Prentice, Greta. Five grandsons Legend Alyxander Beard his buddy and best friend. Shuqui Gonsalves, Kore, Zaniyah, tyrie. One granddaughter, Shuquia Prentice Gonsalves, several cousin, nieces, nephews and friends in the United States and abroad.

Graveside services will be held Wednesday, April 14, 2021 at 1:00 p.m. at Cedar Grove Cemetery, 120 Watkins Street, Augusta, Georgia with Reverend Ron Spry, eulogist. *Funeral procession will leave the residence at 12:00 noon.

Public viewing will be Tuesday, April 13, 2021 from 2:00-4:00 p.m. at the mortuary.

Gracie, Keisha, Eric and Legend, So sorry for your loss. There's nothing that can be said that will mend your broken hearts. Hugh was a very loving and respected man to many. Remember the good times and cherish them always. When you're feeling down always look for that moment that Hugh made you laugh or smile and it will help you get thru that moment.
