He departed this life on Monday, April 5, 2021 at Ashton Place in McLeansville, North Carolina. At an early age, Thomas joined Little Bethlehem Christian Church under the leadership of Reverend JC Hairston. He was called into ministry and became an ordained minister on July 29, 1977. In June of 1990, he received his Diploma in Pastoral Ministries from The Shaw Divinity School. He was a faithful member of Little Bethlehem and held numerous positions throughout the years including, associate minister, deacon, church chairman, vice chairman, president of the male chorus and Christian Men’s Fellowship. Thomas attended Douglas High School and graduated in the class of 1956. He worked for Spray Cotton Mill until he was injured on the job. He was the co-owner and operator of the second community store in the Piney Fork community. He was a farmer at heart and produced the most beautiful gardens and shared his harvest with everyone. He enjoyed cooking and looked forward to making his annual stews for the family and local organizations. He was a staple in the Piney Fork community and served as a 4-H advisor and mentor for the young men in the community. Thomas was preceded in death by his parents Roy and Orena Broadnax, his brothers, Edwin, Otis, Kenneth and Winfred Broadnax and his wife of 50 years and mother of his children, Reverend Edna Earle Broadnax.
