Obituary For Artie Carlton Willett

Artie Carlton Willett, 40 of Bowie, TX, went home to be with the Lord April 1st, 2021.

Funeral services will take place at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, April 9th, at First Free Will Baptist Church in Bowie, with Glenn Neff, Chuck Smith, and Pastor Jamie Reed officiating.

Family will receive friends one hour prior to the service on Friday at the church.

Burial will follow at Elmwood Cemetery in Bowie.

Artie was born in Henrietta, TX to Ronnie and Doris (Whitson) Willett on April 7th 1980. He grew up and attended school in Bowie, where he met and married his high school sweetheart Teresa. Together they had three beautiful children, then blessed with two wonderful grandchildren.

Artie enjoyed fishing, watching and playing football with his kids, volleyball with KiKi, laughing and telling stories. He never met a stranger. He followed in his father’s footsteps working many years in the oilfield, which he was very passionate about.

He is preceded in death by his father Ronnie and mother Doris, his niece, Chelsea Cleveland, great-nieces Lily and Grace Rodgers and Miah Cobbs.

Artie is survived by his wife Teresa Willett; son Jacob Willett; daughters Ariana and Kiara Willett; grandchildren Britley and Elijah; brothers, Gary Willett and wife Darlene, Anthony Willett and wife Mary, Ronnie Willett and wife Angela, David Willett and wife Shelly, and Ocie Willett and wife Gandy; sisters Tammie Reyes and husband Jimmy, Kimberly Rater and husband Kyle, Judy LaPorte and husband Stephen, Sherry Moore and husband Walter, Julie Dawson and husband Monty, and Rhonda Pierce and husband David; Mother-in-law Donna Musick; sister-in-law Michelle Reid; brothers-in-law Jason Perry, Steven Musick and Kevin Musick; Over 50 nieces and nephews and over 45 great-nieces and nephews, as well as numerous family members and friends.

So heartbroken to hear of Artie's passing. Although I haven't seen Artie since high school, when I think of Artie, I will always remember his amazing smile and sweet gentle spirit.
