Mr. Daquarrius Raquan Sanders, 18, of Shelby, NC passed away on Wednesday, April 7, 2021 at Atrium Health – Cleveland in Shelby, NC. He was born on June 8, 2002 in Cleveland County, NC to Shawana Reena Surratt and Derrick Eugene Sanders.

Daquarrius attended church at Ellis Chapel Baptist Church. In his spare time, he loved listening to music, playing games and spending time with his family and girlfriend and loved his brothers and sisters.

He was preceded in death by his grandfathers, Ivan Thompson and Ernest Surratt; his great-grandmother, Mary Ann Sutton Hargro and great-grandfather, Ed Thompson.

He leaves to cherish his memory, his parents, Shawana Surratt (Corey) of Shelby, NC and Derrick Sanders (Margie) both of Shelby; his grandmothers, Carol Sutton and Angie Sanders both of Shelby; one brother, Devontae Degree; two sisters, Shamiracle Degree and Dyzeria Olgesby all of Shelby; his great-grandmother, Gwen Thompson; girlfriend, Akeriyana Simmons; a very special friend, Isaiah Littlejohn and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

Funeral services for Mr. Sanders will be private. He can be viewed from 10:00 AM until 11:00 AM on Monday, April 19, 2021 at Ellis Chapel Baptist Church. The family will be receiving friends from 12:00 Noon until 1:00 PM at the church on Monday. Burial will take place at the church cemetery.
