Obituary For Thomas Dean Richey

Thomas Dean Richey, 88 of Bowie, TX, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, April 8th, 2021.

Graveside Services will take place at 9:00 a.m. on Monday, April 12th, at Elmwood Cemetery in Bowie, with Pastor Mike Henson officiating.

Family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. on Sunday, April 11th, at the White Family Funeral Home in Bowie.

Thomas was born February 11th, 1933 on the family farm in Bowie, TX to Carl Sr. and Willie Mae (Collie) Richey. He graduated from Bowie High School in 1950, and as a young man joined the United States Air Force, where he served his country in the Korean War. Thomas then went to work in Fort Worth for Conviar. He then owned and operated a cleaners in Bowie. Later in life he worked for various local businesses, before retiring from the First National Bank of Bowie in 1998.

After retirement he enjoyed spending time on his farm working cattle and visiting with friends at the Longhorn in town. Thomas spent over 50 years as a Mason in Bowie and was a longtime member of the VFW and was a lifelong member of the First Baptist Church of Bowie. Thomas will be remembered for his generosity and his willingness to help others without acknowledgement.

He is preceded in death by his parents; sister Bonnie Richey Ford and her husband Charles, and Charles second wife Wilma Ford; brother Carl Richey Jr. and wife Pat; brother-in-law Carroll Curb; and nephews Everett Richey and Freddy Ford. Thomas is survived by his brother Bennie Richey and wife Sue of Midland, TX; sister Christine Curb of Albuquerque, NM; numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews; and special friends Alan Miller and Jerry Clement, both of Bowie.

Should friends desire, in lieu of flowers, memorials can be made in honor of Thomas to the First Baptist Church of Bowie at 307 Lindsey St. Bowie, TX 76230 or the Scottish Rite Hospital for Children at 2222 Welborn St. Dallas, TX 75219.
