We were so sorry to hear of the sudden loss of Sam McQueen. This community has lost a wonderful man. He visited us often and always had a kind word and friendly smile. I believe if each of us took a little of what he left behind we could continue his legacy of friendship. He never met a stranger. Love is something that has been lost in this World today. He displayed his love, kindness and a wonderful smile that we should all adopt in our lives. Sam is a bright star in Heavens Sky. Our love and Prayers are with his family that they receive comfort and peace knowing that he left behind a lesson for us all to learn from. Jessie & Gayle Scaife Woodard

My dear family, Uncle Sam was inspiring to me growing up as little boy and young man. As an adult we really enjoyed sharing our military experience anytime we were together. We all should feel blessed to have had him for 91 years, none of us is perfect, but Uncle Sam was the perfect uncle for me. Uncle you stayed faithfully on the battlefield for a long time, I salute you, take your rest, mission complete. With love and sympathy, John (Quincy) Gray and family

To Billie & children. Our deepest sympathy and condolences to you in the loss of your loved one and what feels like our brother, uncle and friend. Sam has been with this family since he was a young boy who hoed on the farm with my grandmother with whom his mother was great friends. He and my mother was as thick as thieves and spoke routinely. Sam and my mom (Lenora Means Davison) was among only a very few left who grew up during that time so they shared great history. We all are deeply saddened by the lost of a beloved family friend. We will never forget the kindness and joy that Sam always exuded whenever you saw him. While we grieve the loss, we know that he lived in peace and took wings and flew away to heaven in peace. To God be the glory for welcoming another angel among his flock...We surely will miss him. On behalf of the Myrtle & Willie Means family, Fort Deposit, Al.
