Obituary For Lewis A. Smith

Lewis A. Smith, 73, of Eden,NC died April 12, 2021. A public viewing will be held from 1:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Friday, April 16, 2021 at Perry- Spencer Funeral Home, Eden, NC. Graveside services will be held 2:00 p.m. Saturday, April 17, 2021 at Hamlin Cemetery, Eden, NC.

Lewis Alphonso Smith, 73, of Maryland Ave., Eden, NC passed on Monday, April 12, 2021 at UNC Rockingham Hospital of Eden, NC. He was born on December 14, 1947 to the late Sanford Smith, Sr. and Laura Ann Hairston. Lewis attended Hairston Elementary School in Pennsylvania County. He was a resident of Miami, Florida for 40 years where he was self employed as a landscaper. He returned to Eden, NC in 2012, where he united with Sunny Home Baptist Church of Eden, NC. He was a member of the Sunday School and attended morning worship regularly until his health declined. Lewis loved his church family, his pastor and worshiping God. He specialized in lawn care and mowed several yards including those of three of his sisters. He was preceded in death by six brothers; Sanford Smith, Jr., James W. Smith, Benjamin A. Smith, Thomas N. Smith, Henry E. Smith, Joe Nelson, three sisters; Sadie S. Woods, Annie S. Hutchinson and Janie Bell S. Young.

He leaves to cherish his memories: his son; Lewis A. Smith, Jr. of Pittsburg, PA, sisters; Frances Smith, Viola S. Roberts, Dorothy S. Curtis all of Eden, NC, Gladys S. Leftwich of Danville, VA, aunt; Lois Hairston of Detroit, MI, nieces, nephews, a special friend of the family, Deaconess Angie Hampton, a host of other relatives and friends.
