Obituary For Carol Jane Gurley

Carol was born in the Bronx on April 27, 1951. She was the first child to the late Sue Carol Gurley and Joe Hill. Carol was raised by Jannie and Rhodes Faulk whom she referred to as Mama and Daddy. Years later she returned to New York from North Carolina where she was then raised by her Uncle and Aunt, Frank and Josephine Gurley.

Carol began her education in the New York City Public School System. Ms. Gurley then went to North Carolina at the age of 11 to continue her education. She graduated high school in 1969. After graduating she returned to New York and went on to work for Bell Telephone Company and later retired as a secretary for A.C.S.

Carol was preceded in death by her two daughters, Tanya Gurley and Tanele Greene; her grandchildren Ali Gurley, Tajanei Gurley, Jameoni Ragster, and Ke'Sean Brown; her great grandson Malik Hayes Jr; her godchildren; her son in law Kenneth Brown and grandson in law Malik Hayes Sr. Carol also leaves behind siblings Lynette Cherry, Joseph "JB" Gurley, Wanda Gurley, niece Lyntinka Cherry and her god grandchildren and adopted grandchildren.

Although she only had two children, Carol made sure she treated everyone like they were her very own. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, god mother, sister, aunt, niece, cousin and friend. Carol was a beautiful woman inside and out. She will truly be missed.
