Obituary For Freddie (Bill) Howard

~ The Obituary ~

Freddie Lee (Bill) Howard was the eldest son of the late Solomon and Lena Mae Thorne Howard. He was born October 9, 1927 in Barney, Georgia where he received a limited education in the local church school system. At an early age he accepted Christ as his personal Lord and saviour and was taken in by Rev. W. W. Woods as he was running revival at Saint James Baptist Church. He became a member of Saint James Baptist Church. Later in life, he moved his membership to Mount Hope Missionary Baptist Church under the Leadership of Rev. Booker T. Washington.

He was united in Holy Matrimony to Beda Ruth Brown on September 13, 1947. On April 9, 2021 at 12:30 A.M. God mercifully touched and called Deacon Freddie L. Howard to eternal rest among the Saints. He was a self- employed barber for over 67 years. Deacon Howard was a loving husband, father, and family man and will be dearly missed.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Beda Ruth; Sons, Freddie, Jr. and Bill Russell; sisters, Christany Hopkins, Geneva Nelloms and Vilula Mitchell; brothers, James Edward, Willie Solomon and Arthur Howard.

Leaving to mourn and cherish his memory are his daughters Ruthie Mae Howard and Mahalia L. Horne; daughter-in-law Priscilla Ruth Howard; sister Earnestine Wyatt in Marin, California; brother George Lewis Howard in Hamden, Connecticut; sisters-in-law Karen Howard, Bessie Mae Powell, Helen Brown, and Elaine Brown. Five grandchildren: Bennie Gordon, Jr., Christopher Todd Peterson, Angela Machelle, Jason Jermaine, and Michael Dexter (Louie) Howard. Great grandchildren: Ashley Letrice Rhodes, Crystal Cherie Tanner, Jeremy Devon, Bennie Gordon III, Zelissia Nichole, Zoie Christina Kaylor Peterson, and Chloe Thompson. Great-great grandchildren: Jaiden Michael Rhodes, Kasey Hunter, Mia and Lei Tanner.

Graveside services will be Thursday, April 15, 2021 at 10AM at Oak Hill Cemetery with Rev. Delvin Boatman, eulogist. Visit this website or our Stevens-McGhee Funeral Home Facebook page to view a livestream of the home going celebration on Thursday morning.
