Obituary For Randy Simmons

Randy Simmons was born October 18, 1957 in Rutherford County. He was the son of the late James Newton Simmons, Jr. and Lula Mae Davis. He is survived by his wife of 33 years, Rev. Dale Marie Martin Simmons of Shelby, NC. He departed this life on April 6, 2021, peacefully at his home. Randy was 1975 graduate of Shelby High School. He graduated in 1996 with an Associate of Science and was a 2004 graduate in Computer Engineering Technology, both from Isothermal Community College. He also earned a certification in Cisco Networking from Cleveland Community College 2014. Randy worked for various corporations during the course of his lifetime, including Spindale Mills, Outboard Marine Corporation. Hoechst Celanese (Fiber), Eaton, Siemus Foods, and Shelby Rescue Mission. Randy was a man who loved the Lord. He was also the family historian. Randy was a singer par excellent and had a second-degree brown belt in Japanese Shotokan Karate. He was always trying to teach his grandchildren, especially the girls, how to defend themselves against an attacker. Randy loved music, working on his computer, playing video games and studying Black History. Randy has been a faithful member of the A.M.E. Zion Church for many years. St. Paul AME Zion Church (FC) was his home church. He is survived by his wife, Rev. Dale Marie Simmons, of the home; his two children, Sonya Jean Trapp of Shelby, NC and Randy Simmons, II of Raleigh, NC. He is survived by his stepmother, Mae Simmons of Kings Mountain, NC; his sister Shar'ron Cooper (Vincent), of Charlotte, NC. Jamaia Hampton-Simmons (Willette) of Lakewood, WA., his brothers, Jamell and Carlos Simmons of Kings Mountain, NC, his step sister Edwina Cogdale (Willie) of Bloomfield, CT and his step brother Darryl Cline of Queens, NY. He is survived by five grandchildren, who were his joy: Ayan.os Marie Trapp, Randy. III, Bre 9 Michelle,Langston Evander and Tegan Marie Simmons; a step grandson, Dante Trapp of Sacramento, CA and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Randy also had three very special friends: Curtis Mosley, Miles Holbert, and Robert Proctor.
