Obituary For Essie Lee Barnes

Mr. Essie Lee Barnes, 98, of New Orleans, Louisiana passed away on Sunday, April 11, 2021 at Evergreen Health and Rehabilitation Center, Southfield, Michigan.

Mr. Barnes is the son of the late Frank and Geneva Barnes. He was a member of Calvary Tabernacle CME Church, New Orleans, Louisiana where he served as Deacon.

He was a retired longshoreman who served in the United States Navy. Mr. Barnes enjoyed spending time with family and friends.

Funeral services are scheduled for Saturday, April 24, 2021 at Johnson Funeral Home at 2pm. Interment will be in Griffith Cemetery, Prentiss, Mississippi.

He is survived by: son, Essie Barnes, Jr. of Oak Park, MI; daughters, Eva Donaldson of Philadelphia, PA; Joyce Green of Sun Lake, AZ and Darlene McKnight of Kenner, LA.

Visitation will be Saturday, 1-2pm at the funeral home.
