Obituary For Mae Mitchell Borden

Mae Borden, 80, of Tampa Fl., departed this life on Monday, April 19, 2021, at Advent Health Hospital, Tampa, FL. She was born in Martinsville, VA on July 24, 1940, the daughter of the late John Lee Mitchell and the late Ida Mae Boe Mitchell.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Jack Thomas Borden; one son, Ricky Mitchell; two sister, Betty L. Mitchell, and Doris A. Mitchell; and two brother, Edward Mitchell, and Cozy L. Mitchell.

At an early age, Mae became a member of Shiloh Way of the Cross Church, Martinsville, VA, and while in Tampa, FL, she became a member of New Life Tabernacle Church. She was a graduate of Albert Harris High School, Martinsville, VA.

Mae leaves to cherish her memory, her children, Linda Mae Busby of E. Orange, NJ, James Earnest Mitchell of Tampa, FL, William Anthony Mitchell of Lithia, FL, Pamela Renee Wright of Riverview, FL, Tammy Terrell McGill of Martinsville, VA, and Walter Eric Mitchell of Newark, NJ; two sisters, Viola Smith and Delois Mitchell both of Martinsville, VA; two brothers, James Mitchell of Gladys, VA, and Herman Mitchell of Martinsville, VA; twenty grandchildren; thirty-six great grandchildren; three great-great grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, May 1, 2021 at 1 p.m. at the C.R.V. Memorial Chapel at Hairston Funeral Home with Pastor Lewis Waller, Eulogist. A public viewing will be held on Friday, April 30, 2021 between the hours of 3 p.m. until 5 p.m. In accordance with the CDC, a face covering, and social distancing is required. Burial will follow at Carver Memorial Gardens.

I'm so lost for words. Thou we were miles apart the love I have for you never wavered. The love you showed my mother and the bond you two shared was amazing. When you saw Doris you saw Mae. Now you two are together catching up on old times. Mae I love you and going to miss your face and your smile and kind words that you always given. To my cousins your mother was indeed the best.
