My heart sunk when I learned that Chuck has finished his race in this life. Our relationship started as co-workers, developed into a friendship and eventually as my financial adviser. I had the pleasure of his advice as well as his laughter and great conversations. I will truly miss seeing my friend and sharing stories. To the family you have my deepest condolences and prayers of comfort. Neil Christian

This is such a heart wrenching blow to the Thomas Jefferson High School Family. Charles Adams, Jr. was not only a lifetime friend, but we were indirectly related. We always knew that, but it was like our little secret. I believe it was his mother's brother who married my first cousin on my father's side, Geraldine Lewis Claiborne. And they all belonged to Moore Street Baptist. (I was not in his click, but I was among his click, and they all know it.) My heart and prayers goes out to his loving wife and immediate family during this difficult time. Charles was a huge heart to all his family, friends and community. He will be well missed; and may he rest peacefully. Robert W. (Bobby) Lewis San Francisco

I can only offer prayers of comfort for the loss of your loved one. Charles and I shared the same circle although he was a few years older than me. Grew up in Northside, attended TJHS, know a lot of the same people. But I really got to know Chuck during the years we worked at the Virginia Retirement System. He was always sharply dressed, professional, courteous to everyone, and well respected. That's when I learned he was one of the good guys...smart and caring! He was a good listener too. In recent years we would see each other at the Northside reunions. I know his departure leaves a hole in the hearts of many. May you be comforted by your memories and the knowledge that he gave his all. May God bless and comfort his loved ones at this time. Tawana Gilyard

Charles Adams was the center on the TeeJay football team while I was an assistant coach there. He always gave 100% to the team. I can still picture Charles dripping wet with sweat after every practice or game. He was never ever short of energy or effort. Charles also played baseball under Coach Rex Atkinson. In more recent years I would see Charles at various TeeJay football games. We would chat and catch up regarding alumni and former teammates. It was always good to see him. My condolences to his family and friends. I will certainly miss him.

Charles was one of my great Battery Park friends whom I've know since elementary school. We played a lot of baseball together behind Norrell School and at TeeJay. Even though he thought he was the "Manny Sanguillen" of RPS baseball catchers, his faux Spanish was even greater. We always stayed close enough to enjoy life and reminisce about our athletic endeavors. May the family remember the fun times with a Charles Adams smile on their faces. The Lord will comfort you during these difficult times. Rayford Harris Jr.

Mrs. Adams and Family: Annette and I are praying for You and with You! Annette met her through his work at Ameriprise (and subsequently he became my financial advisor). However, we grew up together at Moore Street Baptist Church, his Mom and Aunt being my Sunday School teachers. Thanks for sharing Brother Charles with us! He was an angel in God's service of stewardship! Now, he enjoys the Peace that surpasses all understanding and abides in the Presence of the Eternal! Bless YOU! Jerome C.
