The Obituary

James “Deano” Lee Ballard, 73, entered eternal rest on Wednesday, April 21, 2021. He was the son of the late Grover Lee and Annie Watts Ballard and was born on September 22, 1947 in Lancaster County, South Carolina. James was married to Polly Doby Ballard.

James was educated in the Lancaster County School System. He attended Hillside High School.

James retired from Grace Bleachery after many years of service.

James was preceded in death by his parents and one son, Derrick Ballard.

Those left to cherish his memories are his wife, Pauline Ballard of Lancaster, SC; three sons, Michael Ballard (Latonya), Brian Ballard (Octavia) and Scottie Ballard, all of Lancaster, SC; four brothers, Robert Ballard (Ann) and Laguardia Ballard (Corey), both of Charlotte, NC, Charles Ballard (Geraldine) and Garrett Ballard (Jeannette), both of Lancaster, SC; two sisters, Shirley Coleman of Lancaster, SC and Polly Graves of Buffalo, NY; two sisters-in-law, Carrie Lynn of Fort Lawn, SC and Robert Mae Catoe (Richard) of Liberty Hill, SC; 16 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren.

Graveside Service will be 2:00 p.m. Sunday, April 25, 2021 at Lancaster Memorial Park. Services will be conducted by Reverend Jerusha Gaither.

Viewing will be Saturday, April 24, 2021 from 2:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m. at Stewart Funeral Home.
