Albert Wimberly Sr. January 12, 1932 - April 20, 2021

Macon, Georgia - Entered into rest, Albert Wimberly, Sr., 89, of Macon, GA at Magnolia Hospice on Tuesday, April 20, 2021 after a lengthy illness. A native of Lowndes County, Mt. Willing, Alabama. Willie Albert was born to the late Joseph Lonnie Wimberly and the late Bessie Wiley Wimberly on January 12, 1932. His father moved the family to Macon, Georgia when Albert was five years old. Albert attended the Bibb County Public Schools at L. H. Williams Elementary School and Hudson Industrial High School graduating in 1949.

On June 28, 1958, Albert and Lillie Carro Wilcher were united in holy matrimony and were married for over 50 years. They parented three children. Lillie transitioned in 2009. He was a previous member of Mount Moriah Baptist Church serving as a senior usher and church Trustee.

His career began at nine at various jobs to help care for his family. He voluntarily joined the United States Air Force during November 1949 serving four years in Korea. While serving he earned four medals. He was honorably discharged from Lockbourne Air Force Base, Ohio. Albert was employed at Robins Air Logistics Command at Robins Air Force Base, Georgia from 1953 to 1963 as an Air Craft Refueler. Albert was also employed at the United States Postal Service serving as a letter carrier and a special delivery long distance letter carrier and mail drop box pick up carrier. From 1966 until his retirement in January 1990 serving as a Gyro-Scopic Instrument Repair Inspector and retiring as a Quality Assurance Specialty Inspector-Electrical.

Loving him as always are his children; Ms. Carro D. Wimberly of Augusta, Georgia, Dr. Sabrenai W. Brown of Gray, Georgia and Albert Wimberly, Jr., of Atlanta, Georgia; grandchildren; Whitney M.S. Wimberly of Augusta, Georgia and Curtis W. Brown, Jr., of Gray, Georgia; one great-grandson, Jahmere E. M. Bussey; three nephews and two nieces.

Graveside Services are 11:00AM Saturday, April 24, 2021 at Woodlawn Memorial Park, 2005 Woodlawn Drive, Macon, Georgia 31211.
