Obituary For Mary Ann Mitchell

Mrs. Mary Ann White Mitchell, daughter of the late Isaac and Julia White, was born on July 5, 1953, in Charleston, SC. The Lord came and gently took her home to rest on His wings of love on April 27, 2021. She received her education at Baptist Hill High School in Hollywood, SC. She became a member of Mt. Zion A. M. E. Church in the early 1970’s under the leadership of Reverend Leon Belton. She served faithfully on the Usher Board, Sunday School, Bible Study, and Choir Boards. She also worked at St. Francis Hospital for over 20 years until a sudden illness. She was joined into holy matrimony to Mr. Herbert Mitchell on February 26, 2000. This union was blessed with three daughters and one son. Mary Ann was preceded in death by her beloved parents, Isaac and Julia White, and beloved sister, Kathleen White. Mary Ann leaves precious memories to be cherished by her husband, Herbert Mitchell; her three daughters, Anastacia White, Shawn Jenkins (Bruce), and Shawnese Mitchell; one son, Maurice Mitchell (Karena) and one step -son, Blaine Mitchell. Grandma’s “Grand” Wagon: Jordyn McFadden, Zanya Mitchell, Chasity Mitchell, Malayah Mitchell, Shaquiell Mitchell, Jazmyn McFadden, Aniyah Gibbs, Ava Jenkins, and Quanesia Mitchell. She also leaves to cherish her brothers and sisters: Isaac White, Jr. (Peggy Lee) and Robert White (Kate) of Columbia, SC, Julie Morton (Oliver), Rose McFadden (Willie), and Carrie Wilson all of Bronx, NY, Robert Gathers (Sharon) of North Carolina, Bernadetta Gathers (Gregg) of Atlanta, GA, James White (Eve), Joseph White (Susie), Louretta White (John), Harold Gathers (Joyce), Benjamin Gathers (Barbara), Collen Walker (Freddie), Cynthia Riggins (Ricky), Donald Gathers, Charlie Gathers (Nina), Marvin Holmes (Joyce), Vincent Gathers and Elisa Smalls (Julius); one uncle Benjamin White (Viola) of Upstate New York; aunts, Zelma Howard and Autherine White of Bronx, NY, two special aunts, Ethel Gibbs of Hollywood, SC and Mamie Lee White of Charleston, SC; special nieces, Olivia and Linda White, Shaneka Walker; special nephew, Marcus Walker; special spiritual mother, Minister Agnes Alexander; special friends, Marie Horry, Maybel Ann Deas, Lily Woods, and Marie Jackson; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, and relatives.Relatives and friends of the late Mrs. Mary Ann Mitchell are all invited to attend her Celebration of Life Service, Saturday, May 01, 2021, at Mt. Zion AME Church, 8419 Wiltown Road, Hollywood, SC at 11:00 AM. Public viewing will be held this evening from 3PM-7PM at Walkers Mortuary “Chapel of Peace” 3407 Old Pond Road, Johns Island, SC 29455.
