Obituary For Mr. William "Bill" Stephens

William Douglas Stephens was born on March 24, 1937 to the late Bead L. Stephens and Ollie O. Stephens. On April 23, 2021, the angels came and took him to his final residence.

He grew up in the Popular Springs Community and attended Gilmore Academy in Marianna, Fl. He accepted Christ at an early age. He was a very talented & gifted pianist, never having any formal training.

After graduation, he worked for the Florida State Hospital in Chattahoochee, Florida. In 1960, he enlisted into the U.S. Army and served until 1962. He re-enlisted in 1966 and served until 1973. He also served in the Vietnam War. After receiving an Honorable Discharge, he matriculated to Miami, Florida. The U.S. Post Office employed him where he retired.

After retiring, he moved back to Marianna, Florida. He was Minister of Music at many churches. After living in Marianna for many years, he then moved to Orlando, Florida. Because of many health challenges, he became a resident of Rosewood Health & Rehabilitation Center.

He had a love for life and family and will be surely missed by all. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by twelve siblings: Evangeline Stephens, Bead L. Stephens, Jr. Fletcher Stephens, Benjamin Stephens, Isaac Stephens, Ralph Malone, Larence Stephens, Harold Stephens, John Stephens, Lillian D. Parker, Lillie S. Person.

A devoted brother will forever cherish his loving memory: Omega Stephens (Patricia), Children: Micah, Sireeta, and Largos, Sisters-In Law: Betty Stephens and Mary Malone; Nieces: Donna Douglas, Della Stephens, Stacy & Renee Stephens, Ethelene Farmer, Lauren Stephens; Nephews: Ken Douglas, Keith Stephens, Randy Stephens, Marcus Stephens, Derick Gray, David Person, Kenneth Malone, Lamont Stephens, Larence Stephens, Jr., and Charles Arrington. He also has five grandchildren and a host of cousins and friends.

A homegoing celebration will be held Saturday, May 1, at 11:00a.m. at Peoples Funeral Home Chapel, Rev. Eddie Farmer, Sr. and Rev. Freddie Roulhac will be officiating. Interment will follow in the Popular Springs Church Cemetery with Military Honors provided by the Veterans of the Popular Springs Community. Arrangements entrusted to the Caring Staff at Peoples Funeral Home of Marianna.
