My mother was the most caring and authenticate person I have ever known. Mama any selfless I show is because of you, any bravery I show is because of you, any kindness and gratefulness I show is because of you and mostly importantly knowing and serving the LORD is because of you. Mama you were an extraordinary mom anyone could have asked for. I know I asked you many times were you pleased as to how we were taking care of you and you said you were fine, and we were doing a great job, as I told you, you are well deserved of our love. I went home every Mother's Day and XMAS to be a part of those special moments in my mother's life. Due to COVID I missed my first mother day and when I last saw my mother last month, Sunday, April 25, I told her last I would be home for this Mother's Day (May 9, 2021) too. Mama just to let you know, in spirit I will be with you on Mother's Day. It is going to take a few minutes to get use to the passing of our mother. I said minutes because our time on earth is the blink of the eye. Mama rest in peace and we shall see you soon our little golden angel. Love Your daughter Bunny (aka Gwen)

When I first met Marian I knew that she was a special woman. Seeing her caring and loving manner as a grandmother was an inspiration to me. I know that she also was devotedly committed to her church and to her Post Office and union co-workers. It has been a joy to interact with her through the last 20 years. Loving condolences to all the Brown family. Page Luxmoore

My heartfelt condolences goes out to the Brown family. I have known Mrs. Brown for 40 plus years. Friends of her sons and growing to love her as well. Mrs. Brown was always there, being sure we (her sons friends) were fed and enjoyed ourselves. She was a part of us. May GOD bless the family, you all have my deepest sympathy. Many times I hear people speak about a deceased person and I wonder if the person was truly as the words spoken proclaim. However, when I think of Aunt Marian I know for SURE nothing but positive words can be spoken. Aunt Marian never ever said anything unkind to me. She always made me feel like I am somebody! Even if someone was rude to her I never witnessed her retaliate. She definitely did not just talk the talk of Christianity! She walked the walk! God has gained an Angel that the earth could not afford any longer. I thank the Watkins/Brown family for sharing this soul! Family know that God is looking at you. He will comfort you. He is saying as for Marian "Well done faithful servant."

I have fond memories of Marian at her church in Henrico County (Second Bethel Baptist). She was the church clerk who took great pride in reading the announcements and other church letters. She really loved Homecoming where she always bought her special potato salad that everyone was waiting for, including me with a container to take some home! To the family, sincere condolences to all of you. Marian is resting, her work on earth is done. She has arrived and is now safe in the arms of God. Sarah Harris

I have known Mrs. Brown since 1972, when Gwen and I became friends at Norfolk State University. One weekend, Gwen invited me to come home with her, and I met Mrs. Brown and Gwen's brother, Corkey. Mrs. Brown made me feel right at home and cooked some of the best food ever, especially her potato salad. I will always remember Mrs. Brown's smile and the kindness she always showed me. She always remembered me with a smile when she came to visit Gwen, and even while she was ill. My heartfelt condolences to the Brown family. You have my deepest sympathy. Gwen, I'm here for you if you need anything, just call.

Marian was one of the kindness people that I have ever known. She was the mother figure to the American Postal Workers Union's Women's Committee Post Office Women for Equal Rights (POWER) and was a beloved friend of mine. My prayers and deepest sympathy go out to the family. Take comfort in the fact that Marian has gone home to be with our Lord, God, and Savior. Rest in peace, my dear friend. Joyce B. Robinson

My Mother and Mrs. Brown were best friends they met in elementary school. In 1953 they lost touch once high school was over. But in 1965 when my Mother married my Dad they ran into each other at the grocery store and found out they live less than 5 minutes from each other and that friendship continued until my Mother passed in 2006. Mrs. Brown has known me since I was was born. Going to miss you especially at Pokeno. You are at rest now. Tell my Mother and Dad hi. Rest In Peace an Power.

One rarely meets a kindler and more compassionate soul. Many days I listened to you and my older sister discuss the trials and tribulations of the Post Office and the many hours spent taking care of union business. Although you were a bit older than me, I loved you as my friend too. I will forever miss your great cooking and long for your potato salad, but now my friend is your time to rest and savor in the realm of Glory. Brenda D Bailey MD
