Obituary For Mr. William Gibson

Mr. William Gibson, more affectionately known as "Money", was born to the late Mrs. Blanchie Raines Gibson and the late Mr. R. C. Gibson on May 26, 1947 in Thomaston, Upson County, GA. He received his early education in the public schools of Upson County and graduated from the Crawford County Training School with the Class of 1967. While in high school, he played on the basketball team and was instrumental in helping them to secure a state championship. At an early age, he accepted Christ as his Lord and Savior, and he joined the Salem Baptist Church. After reaching adulthood, William met Ms. Betty Walker, and they were united in holy matrimony. Later in life, he migrated to the Atlanta area, where he found employment with the Atlanta Public Schools. He retired in 2006 with over thirty-five years of service. William was the father of five children, a grandfather, and a great-grandfather. He possessed a gentle, meek, and humble spirit. He loved everyone he came in contact with and would give his last to help those in need. He was a gentle and playful giant, always laughing or telling a joke to put a smile on your face. He enjoyed sports, especially baseball; traveling; spending time with family and friends; playing his guitar; being in the outdoors; and feeding all types of animals. William was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Joseph Gibson and Curtis Gibson. On Tuesday, April 20, 2021, the Lord called his name to come and rest. His spirit took flight and returned to the Father. His departure has deeply saddened the hearts of his family and friends. He leaves to cherish his memory his wife, Mrs. Betty Gibson of Marietta, GA; five children, Ms. Schaletha Sanders, Mr. Maurice Sanders, Mr. William Valdez Sanders, Ms. Natalie Sanders and Mr. Carlos Sanders all of Atlanta, GA; fifteen grandchildren and sixteen great-grandchildren; one sister, Ms. Carrie Gibson of Culloden, GA; two brothers, Mr. Oscar (Annie) Gibson of Morrow, GA and Mr. Charles (Constance) Gibson of Atlanta, GA; sister-in-law, Mrs. Debbie Gibson of Roberta, GA; two devoted nieces, Ms. Musuyar Mani and Ms. Erica Gibson; a devoted nephew, Mr. James Jones; a host of other nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives and friends. Take your rest now, William; you will truly be missed. Graveside Service were held Tuesday, April 27, 2021 Salem Church Cemetery
