MR. JOHN STACEY TERRY, son of John Albert and Sarah Ann Alexander Terry, was born September 2, 1970 in Mecklenburg County, VA and departed this life April 24, 2021 in VCU-Community Memorial Hospital, South Hill, VA.

At an early age he was baptized and joined Jerusalem United Church of Christ. He was a 1988 graduate of Park View Senior High School.

He later married Carletta Simmons and to this union a daughter, Carlesha was born.

He was employed at Central Regional Mental Health in North Carolina for twenty-two years until his retirement.

Stacey as he was affectionately called was a loving father, grandfather, brother and friend. He had a kind spirit to those who knew him. He always had a smile and an unforgettable laugh. His favorite words were: “Hey Man”. He loved watching scary movies; his favorite college basketball team was the North Carolina Tar Heels, and he enjoyed playing with his grandkids. If you needed advice, he was the one to go to.

Stacey was preceded in death by his father- John Albert Terry; mother-Sarah Ann Alexander Terry; grandparents- Tommy and Betty Alexander; and three aunts- Pearl Whitfield, Bertha Burchett, and Bessie Alexander.

Stacey leaves to mourn his fiancée of thirteen years- Helen Meredith of the home; daughter- Carlesha J. Terry and granddaughter- Skye Robinson both of Capitol Heights, MD; children he reared- Shanna Whitfield, Richmond, VA; Deloris Hill, Darnell Meredith, Camara Whitfield, and Calvin Whitfield, all of Brodnax, VA; fiancée’s grandchildren; brother- Brian Terry, Boydton, VA; sister- Monique Baker, Richmond, VA; God-daughter- Melissa Thomas, Emporia, VA.; seven uncles- Earl (Mary) Terry, Charles (Mary) Tisdale, Jammie, Bobby, Robert, William, and Edward Alexander; eight aunts- Alminta Bell, Annette and Beatrice Alexander, Nancy Alston, Shirley Merritte, Janet Baskerville, Mary Claiborne and Connie Russell; great uncle- Junior Gills; three great-aunts- Ethel and Mary Seward and Arminta Griffin; devoted friends- Rico Robinson, Boydton, VA and Torie Alexander, Chicago, Il, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
