MRS. HAZEL REBECCA JONES BLIZZARD, daughter of the late George W. and the late Harriet Hayes Jones was born February 14, 1941 in Palmer Springs, VA and departed this life April 18, 2021 in Chase City Health and Rehabilitation Center, Chase City, VA. At an early age she was baptized and joined Jerusalem United Church of Christ, Palmer Springs, VA. She attended the Cotton Creek School and graduated from the former East End High School. She furthered her education and became a Licensed CNA and Cosmetologist. She later moved to New Jersey where she met and married Herman Blizzard. Hazel joined the Trinity Baptist Church, Hackensack, NJ where she was a member of the Usher Board, Choir, and Chairman of the Building Fund. She was employed by Hackensack Meridian Health Pascack Valley Medical Center, Westwood, NJ, until her retirement. Hazel was preceded in death by her husband, Herman and son, Nick. She moved back to her native home in 2010 and reaffirmed her membership with Jerusalem United Church of Christ. Hazel leaves to cherish her memory are two grandchildren- Kira and Sammie; two great-grandchildren; twelve siblings- Dorothy Powell, Garfield, NJ; Georgia Williams (Herbert) Rodriguez, Guatemala City, Central America; Warlie Jones, Bettie Jones, Elizabeth Pittman (Fredrick Russell) and Charlie Jones, all of Boydton, VA; George W. (Karen) Jones, Jr., Wilmington, OH; Joel M. Jones and Sarah Jones, Boydton, VA; Ernest G. (Priscilla) Jones, Upper, VA; Gloria Jones and David D. Jones of Hackensack, NJ; three brothers-in-law, Leander, Horace and Otis Blizzard, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
