The Obituary

George J. Johnson, Jr. was born August 27, 1952 to the late Doretha Johnson and George J. Johnson, Sr. in Chester, PA. He graduated from Chester High School. He later enrolled in the U.S. Army for about 3 years. After leaving Pennsylvania, he later went on to attend Southwestern Christian College. He has a number of certifications from Valdosta Technical College and accomplishments including being a GREAT cook.

Mr. Johnson was baptized at Laurel Street C.O.C Quitman, Georgia. At the time of his death, he was attending Media Church of Christ in Chester, PA.

He leaves to cherish his memories two daughters, Rahsheikey Johnson and Regina Robinson both of Quitman, GA; one son Edward James Demps of Quitman, GA; three granddaughters he raised as his own Adrian Cole (Chris), Quitman, GA; Kenicia Chewett (Raheem), Columbus, GA and Shakuandra Demps, Quitman, GA; one grandson Jermaine Demps, Quitman, GA; six sisters; Brenda Johnson, Janet Johnson Holmes, Sheila Johnson, Deborah Mumford Butler, Melody Johnson and Juliet Johnson; two brothers; Dennis Albert Johnson, Joseph Johnson all of Chester, PA. He also has 22 great grandchildren and special friends Mrs. Betty Jackson and Mrs. Ruth Lambert of Quitman, GA. HE WILL BE TRULY MISSED, BUT NEVER FORGOTTEN!!

A celebration of life will be Sunday, May 2, 2021 at 1PM at North End Cemetery with Bro. Tony Herring, eulogist. Visitation will be Saturday at the Stevens-McGhee Chapel from 3PM-7PM. Visit this website or our Stevens-McGhee Funeral Home Facebook page to view a livestream of the celebration.

I am saddened to learn of the death of Mr. George Johnson. I worked with him at Brooks County High School, and he definitely was a gentleman who shared his Christian wisdom frequently with me. I am sure that he will be missed. God bless his family. Jacqueline Harper
