Miss Tamara "Tam" Jewell Carlton, 45, of Durham, NC was born August 23, 1975 to Daryl Carlton and Veda Bullock Sims in Durham, NC. She transitioned to her heavenly home on Saturday, May 1, 2021.

Tamara was educated in the Durham Public School System, graduating from Jordan Sr. High School in 1993. She went on to attend NC A&T State University, with a concentration in Political Science.

Tam was an excellent cook. She relished in and was passionate about preparing meals for her family, friends, and co-workers.

Time spent with Tam was full of joy and laughter. She was the families comedian and had a very infectious smile.

Tamara's professional career involved work in pre-school childcare and in customer service care representation most recently with NC Blue Cross Blue Shield. At an early age, Tam was baptized and attended North East Baptist Church, Durham, NC.

Fond memories of Tam will be cherished by her loving and devoted partner of 31 years, Kevin Becton, mother Veda Sims, father, Daryl (Marcie, Bonus Mom) Carlton, sister, Trisha Carlton, uncles, Bobby Bullock (Patricia), Lucious Bullock (Verna), John Bullock (Vanessa), Alvin Bullock (Linda), Connie Bullock (Shirley), Kenneth Bullock (Joyce), Ronald Watson, Raymond Paris, Ricky Carlton (Joshlyn), Gary Carlton, aunts, Peggy Bullock, Cleopatra Bullock, Pearl Bullock and Amanda Bullock. Charles and Brenda Becton and a host of relatives, friend and her four legged babies Jah and Daisy.

In honor of Tamara's wishes and due to COVID-19 no formal services will be scheduled. Family and friends will mourn and celebrate Tam's life at a later time.
