Obituary For Jackie Mae McCray

Mrs. Jackie Mae McCray, 81, of Columbus, GA passed Tuesday, May 4, 2021 in Columbus, GA.

Graveside service will be held 1:00 p.m., Saturday, May 15, 2021 at Evergreen Memorial Park Columbus, GA with Rev. Alfred Crowley, officiating. Visitation is Friday, May 14, 2021 from 2-5 p.m. EST.

Mrs. Jackie M. McCray was born March 3rd, 1940 to the late Caesar Harvey and the late Eleanor A. Tate Scott in Birmingham AL.

As a child Jackie went to Mother Mary Mission in Phenix City AL. In 1958 she moved to Chicago, IL where she met her soulmate her best friend Mr. Oliver V. McCray.

On December 24, 1960 Jackie and her soulmate got married and had four children that were born during the union. She retired from Board of Education after serving 25 years.

Jackie became a member of 2nd Mount Vernon Missionary Baptist Church in 1972 under the direction of late R.H. Patton. During this time Jackie served faithfully as a choir member and Deaconess.

After retirement in 1996, Jackie relocated from Chicago, IL to Columbus Ga.

Surviving her departure are loving children and grandchildren, Anthony McCray (Helen) of Chicago ,IL, Eric McCray (Sheryl) of Hampton, VA, Tanya McCray of Columbus,GA and Kelcey McCray (Pam) Waipahu, HI; grandchildren, Javonte Hayes, Jada Hayes, Jamirah McCray, Jeashia McCray, Jaques McCray and a host of relatives and friends .
