Obituary For Barbara Christopher

Funeral ceremony for Barbara Ann Johnson Christopher, 72, of Anniston, Alabama will be held at 1:00 PM on Saturday, May 8, 2021 at the Bethel Missionary Baptist Church with Pastor Walter Solomon officiating.

Burial will immediately follow at Eden Hills Cemetery.

Public viewing will be held from 1:00 PM - 5:00 PM at Goodson Funeral Chapel on Friday, May 7, 2021. Barbara graduated from Cobb High School in 1966. She confessed Christ at an early age and joined Bethel Missionary Baptist Church. Sis. Barbara worked for Bellsouth Telephone Company, which later became AT&T, where she retired on January 12, 2000. Afterwards, she worked in the church in various positions until she was called home. The various positions include Sunday School Teacher, Secretary of the Mass Choir, Women's Choir, Culinarily Department, and Advisory Board. Sis. Barbara was united in Holy Matrimony to Mr. Joseph Christopher on May 2, 1969, and shared forty-five glorious years together until his passing. Both Joseph and Barbara loved fishing and traveling. They shared one amazing and unbreakable bond. Sis. Barbara Christopher departed this life on Friday, April 30, 2021 at UAB Hospital in Birmingham, Alabama. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Mr. Joseph Christopher; her father, Robert C. Johnson; her mother, Leathia Mae English; and her stepfather, Clarence English. She leaves to cherish her lovely memories: her sister, Betty Johnson of Anniston, Al; the three brothers, Robert (Mary) Johnson, Jr., of Charlotte, NC, Billy (Annette) Johnson of Villa Ricca, GA, and Darrick English (Jumica Johnson) of Oxford, Al; stepchildren, Sharon (Roy) Christopher of Anniston, Al, Vicky (Rydell) Ervin of Oxford, Al, and Wendell (Sherry) Christopher of Elk Grove, CA; a special niece/daughter, Jakita White (Brittney and Javar) of Huntsville, Al; and sisters-in-law, Corrine Christopher, Mary (Garnett) Jackson, and Rue Powell, all of Anniston, Al, and Barbara Bell Christopher of Jacksonville, Al; and a host of grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and other relatives and friends.
