In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Vera Carter, and Esther Carter; and three brothers, Dave Gravely, Jr., Cecil Gravely, and William "Bill" Gravely.
Charles was a member of the St. Paul High Street Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon, Treasurer, and sang with Canary Harmonizers, the Men's Choir, and the Senior Choir.
Charles was a 1957 graduate of Kimball High School, Kimball, WVA. After graduating from High School, Charles enlisted in the United States Army, where he retired after 27 years as a Master Sergeant. He later retired from the Tultex Corporation after 13 years of service.
Charles leaves to cherish his memory, his wife, Shirley M. Gravely of the home; three daughters, Barbara (Daren) Williams of Seattle, WA, Diann Brandon of Martinsville, VA, and Tia (Richard) Lewis of Richmond, VA; two grandsons, Charles Devin Jamison, and Troy Brandon both of Martinsville, VA; two granddaughters, Mya Brandon of Martinsville, VA and Holly Williams of Seattle, WA; two sisters, Shirley G. Shannon of California, and Ethel G. Farrell of Martinsville, VA; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, May 25, 2021 at 11 A.M. at Carver Memorial Gardens with Pastor Matthew Brown, Eulogist. A public viewing will be held on Monday, May 24, 2021 at Hairston Funeral Home between the hours of 1 P.M. until 5 P.M. In accordance with the CDC, a face covering, and social distancing is required.
