OBITUARY

“God saw the road was getting rough; The hills were hard to climb. He gently closed his loving eyes and whispered, “Peace be thine.”

Mr. Jeffery “Omar” Baker, Sr., son of the late Fannie Ghee Lawson and Richard Barker, was born on January 29, 1963 in Newark, New Jersey. He was the stepson of the late Alf Lawson, and grandson of the late George and Bessie Ghee of Boydton, VA.

On Saturday, May 15, 2021 Jeffrey suddenly departed this life and entered his Eternal home and resting place with Almighty God.

Jeffrey was educated in the Newark Public Schools System. Over the years he became an avid fisherman and enjoyed taking fishing trips and being out on the water. He will also be remembered for hosting many family cook outs and get-togethers over the years.

Preceded in death by his brother Leroy Baker, Jeffrey was a loving and devoted companion to Sharvitt Walden; and beloved father of Jeffrey Baker, Jr. and Tawanna Baker both of Newark, NJ. He also leaves to cherish his memories a sister, Joann Harris-Burch (Derek) of Charlottesville, VA; three brothers, Anthony Baker and William Wright both of Newark, NJ and his devoted brother Stanford Lee Davis (Kia) of High Point, NC; one stepsister, Virginia Davis of Newark, NJ; three Aunts, MayLinda King of Tampa, FL, Pastor Shirley Ghee-Williams (Floyd), and Dorothy King (Daniel) both of Boydton, VA; one Uncle, James Ghee (Lisa-Marie) of Richmond, VA; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
