Obituary For Lillie Hunt

Mrs. Lillie Mae Hunt, daughter of the late Macie Whitworth Fuller and Luke Coates was born on July 19, 1934 in Cleveland County, NC. Lillie went home peacefully on Thursday, May 20, 2021.

Lillie attended Douglas School. She then became a devoted wife, mother and homemaker. In the later years, she became a cook in various upper Cleveland County restaurants and also did some domestic work.

Lillie was a faithful member of Hopewell Baptist Church where she served faithfully on the missionary board, the kitchen committee and in community outreach. She willingly filled in wherever there was a need. Bringing a smile to someone’s face was her greatest joy. She was a praying mother who loved her family and was loved by many, leaving a lasting impression on everyone she met. God blessed her with a heart filled with love that she so gladly shared.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John Lester Hunt.

She leaves to cherish fond and loving memories in the hearts of three daughters, Lorene Coats, Brenda Curry and Jeanette Bailey (James); three sons, Johnnie Coats (Nazimah), Richard Coats (Sandra) and William Coats (Connie); a host of grandchildren and great grandchildren as well as other relatives and friends.

Funeral services for Mrs. Hunt will be private. She can be viewed from 9:00 AM until 11:00 AM on Thursday, May 27, 2021 at S.T. Enloe Memorial Chapel. The family will be receiving friends from 12:30 PM until 1:00 PM at Hopewell Baptist Church on Thursday and other times at 2855 Toney Road, Lawndale. Burial will take place at the church cemetery.
